Encyclopedia of Life or EOL.org is a pharaonic project that has just opened to the public.

The goal is to create an online reference source and database for every one of the 1.8 million species that are named and known on this planet.

Since the site was launched with its first 30,000 pages it has been assaulted by a horde of visitors causing their server to crash.

Result: At the time of this writing, the encyclopaedia of life is dead
